As I near the end of my term as President of GUAA, I would like to say a big Thank-you to all of the wonderful people I have met over the last several years.

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors for this great organization. Even though we all have many other things going on in our work and family life, the people who serve on our committees and Board never cease to amaze me. We all have “paying” jobs, so quite often the work that needs to be done for GUAA comes after all of the other work. This group always steps up to the plate and gets the job done. That helps bring the value to the organization that our membership has come to expect.

Speaking of value, we still believe that GUAA offers an incredible value. Our programming directors continue to seek out keynote and general session speakers to discuss topics that are on the minds of our attendees. Given the general interest level in the political environment among those who attend our meetings, we have had great success with speakers in this area. From the feedback you have provided, it looks like you agree with that. I encourage you to continue to talk about GUAA to others within your respective companies, as well as provide us with feedback about speakers and sessions you would like hear about. I cannot stress the importance of your feedback. It truly is how we drive our meetings and continue to provide the value that I have mentioned.

GUAA is progressing as well. As many of you know, we have entered into a partnership with the Society of Actuaries to try to increase that value that we provide. We tried this at our meeting last May in San Francisco and are doing so again this June in Nashville. We continue to explore other ways that we can strengthen our relationship with the SOA. From what we have heard from both organizations, this has been a positive step.

We also try and continue to look at ways we can make things easier for our members. One area we are moving forward on is the ability to register and pay completely electronically. We are working on the addition of this capability right now and will hopefully have it available very soon.

As I have said, this is an all-volunteer organization. Please consider volunteering your time and your expertise. We continually need good people to assist our committees and our board. Your contributions and ideas are very much appreciated.

Thanks again for being involved with GUAA.

And always remember…………..Red Sox are more colorful than White Sox.
