If you could dine with any famous American historical figure, who would you select
and why:
Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, former Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago Archdiocese.
He was a quiet spiritual leader yet a well respected national spokesperson. I had met him
prior to his death, but only socially. This man publicly forgave his accuser who falsely
accused him of sexual abuse. The accuser later admitted he had lied as he lay dying in
prison of AIDS. The Cardinal met him in prison, blessed him, and forgave him. I wish I
could have asked him how he could forgive this person.
