Disability Committee Review

Our Charleston meeting was well attended with a full slate of good sessions sponsored by the Disability Committee. Instead of providing the highlights of those sessions; however, the Disability Committee wants to get your input on how we can better serve the membership that come to GUAA for disability information. We hold an annual committee meeting in September to discuss topics for the upcoming year' s GUAA meetings. Our committee has grown to sixteen active and eight alumni committee members, representing eleven insurers, three reinsurers, one reinsurance broker, and one life and disability broker/consultant.

This past September, we formed a research subcommittee to explore topics of interest to disability underwriters, product developers, and marketers. In December, many of you may have received our first survey. That survey generated some interesting results as to what topics you would like to see targeted for research.

During the next few weeks, many of you will receive another survey designed to explore in greater detail what specifically you want our research to focus on. Please reply to this survey and add any comments or suggestions not covered by the survey questions. If you are not currently a GUAA member, or you want to make sure you get the survey, send me an e-mail at Phil_Lacy@rsausa.com indicating you want to be a survey participant. We hope that future GUAA disability sessions will include research conducted by the Disability Committee.
