Reinsurance Committee Review

By Boris Garcia Zakzuk
General Cologne Re

The meeting in Montreal was again a big success! We had three workshops that sparked great interest among the attendees.

Tony Plampton from Re-Solution Intermediaries and Bob Pieny from StarLine group walked us through the history, intricacies, and changes in the last decade at Lloyd's of London, as well as how an arm of that organization works in the US. Jerry Bannach from ING Re and Peter Hennichs from Milliman USA presented an educational session on the design and pricing of Excess LTD reinsurance. Kurt Scherer from CNA provided the audience with the nuts and bolts of Medical Reinsurance.

Carolyne Pollard from Disability Consulting Group and Boris Garc’a Zakzuk from General Cologne Re moderated a successful "Let's Talk Shop" session to another successful one. The audience of the "Let's Talk Shop" session almost unanimously voted for the continuation of the reinsurance sessions when asked whether or not we should discontinue them due to the overlapping with the LTD, Medical, and Life "Let's Talk Shops." We were pleased with the support and value given to our session and promised to continue to bring topics of interest to future meetings.

If you haven't attended one of our sponsored sessions, please do so at the next meeting. We bring interesting and topical subjects to the members of the association and would love to see you in Charleston.
