After a recruiting effort, I am pleased to announce the current Reinsurance Committee membership:

Sports Disability Underwriting

Brian Burns from Pro Financial Services presented the history of sports disability insurance and the economics of professional sports that have made insurance a necessary business tool to the teams and for players to purchase. He also discussed the underwriting issues specific to professional sports disability insurance and the "moral hazards" associated with insuring such risks.

Group Life Pricing & Profitability Survey 2000

This was a summary of two Key Disciplines included in the General Cologne Life Re of America's survey of 2000. The survey started in 1999 with 19 participating companies, and went up to 32 for the 2000 survey. Two new companies asked to participate. If you are not already participating, please consider doing so. A list of participating companies and Key Disciplines of the 2000 survey were included in the handouts.

Let's Talk Shop

Our session blended the different A&H insurance disciplines. Carolyn Pollard led the discussions on Disability, while the rest of the committee discussed Life and Health. We will look at creating a more practical structure to our "Let's Talk Shop" for future meetings.
