GUAA Turns 25

ZurichIt's appropriate that GUAA's 25th be celebrated
Here in Chicago where it was created!
It's a milestone an occasion for reflection and pride
For things we've accomplished and things we have tried.
From the Midwest Group Underwriters of '75
Which boasted a headcount of about 25
To the countrywide gathering here in November
With its national stature and 400 members!
From Binyan's to the Bismarck we saw membership swell
To new cities, many Marriott's and now the Drake Hotel;
From $25 dinners and $3 dues
To boards and committees as we steadily grew.
From single-topic after-work sessions we went
To multi-day multi-workshop events;
From meetings during which US Presidents were selected
To one where we still don't know whom we elected!
As the speed with which change comes continues to grow
Our resiliency will be continually tested, we know;
But for 25 years we've done more than survive,
We've kept GUAA growing, refreshed and alive!
We don't know in 2025 what we'll be,
Maybe "Global Risk Professionals," for short GRP!
But 25 years from now, let's meet back here
To celebrate what will then be our first 50 years!!
